I understand the desire to lose weight.
Drinking water is the simplest and easiest way to help with that process. However, if one drinks too much water there can be serious consequences.
I have heard of tragic stories of those who have drank too much water, whether it was during a sporting event or hard workout.
Because sweating during a hard workout releases salt, drinking lots of water during long workouts can cause sodium imbalance and can lead to serious issues. Drinking water is very smart with workouts, but if you have more than your body can process, it can have a horrible reaction.
It called hyponatremia. When this happens, the amount of sodium in your system gets diluted. Sodium helps to regulate the amount of water around your cells.
I am not trying to scare you. I understand though that if you are serious about losing weight, and you are drinking lots of water and working out to accomplish your goal, keep this in mind.
Symptoms can include:
- Muscle weakness or cramping
- Being irratible
- Feeling fatigued or no energy
- Feeling confused
- Even seizure or coma
Sodium plays an important part in body’s function. It helps to keep our blood pressure normal, supports our nerves and muscles, helps to balance our bodies fluid.
* Please see doctor is you are seeing these signs, especially if you have medical conditions that would make this worse or you have been working out hard. I am not a doctor. This information is from research that I have done, and just want to make you aware of the possibility.
