My Journey to Better Health and Weight Loss Using EFT
I recently turned 48 years old. As I get closer to 50, I reflect back on experiences and am truly grateful for my life.
I have had many difficult experiences, and many amazing experiences.
For most of my life, I have been in shape and a healthy weight. However, I haven’t always had image confidence.
As I get older, I have changed some habits, not for the better, and my body continues changing too. But I am feeling hopeful!
HOW I FELT THEN
I learned much about myself while getting in the best shape of my life. Even better shape than when I was as a high school and college athlete!
I can’t believe that 10 years ago I made the decision to train to run my first marathon. I was in ok shape at that time, but I still needed to train.
I set the goal, created my training schedule, and stuck to it. Pretty cool for someone who felt like I was going to have a heart attack the first time I ran.
What a joy it was to do my first marathon at DisneyWorld! I returned the next year to run it with my husband.
I am goal-oriented, and running a marathon seemed like a cool event to work towards. I enjoyed my first marathon so much that I did many more until 2010.
I also got out of my comfort zone by participating in two triathlons.
After 2010, I felt burned out. I did some smaller races with family members, but my heart and training weren’t in it.
I felt myself slowly changing my focus. I kept walking, bike riding, and hiking, and exercising. However not at the intensity I was before.
HOW I FEEL NOW
Each year that passes, I can feel my body changing more and more.
I don’t feel right. I don’t feel like myself.
I’m not exercising at the same intensity as before, but I’m still eating the same. (sometimes worse) My body can’t sustain this pattern.
CAN YOU RELATE TO THIS?
When I was working out and teaching fitness classes, it seemed I could stay in shape even if I kept the same eating habits.
I am reading and learning about how the American diet is the “diet of death”.
It sounds scary, and when I hear the details of the food we American’s consume, it is scary.
The Nutritarian Diet is what I am studying. A way of eating that isn’t a temporary diet but a way to live a healthy long life.
But it’s cool that I am learning new things.
I’m not saying this will be easy to make these changes. Even though I have three kids and a husband that may not be on board with me, I can do this with some support, accountability and my faith.
I am excited about the future, as well as remembering what the possibilities are by what I have accomplished in the past.
HOW I WANT TO FEEL IN THE FUTURE
I am a goal setter. I am driven by goals. It makes sense that even though I don’t have the same energy, I can still set the goals.
Over time, I will gain the energy I once had.
The momentum will build.
I will start to feel like myself again.
This is going to start with my thoughts, and I will gain motivation. What I picture in my head, and what I say to myself, greatly effects what I think I can and can’t do.
It’s confusing that I once had that drive and clarity, and over time it dwindled. But all things happen for a reason. I am in this position for a reason. I have big goals for the future . . . . for a reason.
I desire to feel good and have the energy and strength to be a strong woman, good wife, and a good role model for my children.
I CAN’T KEEPING DOING WHAT I AM DOING
I am going to work on my thoughts, adjust what I eat, not as a diet but as a lifestyle, and keep exercising.
I’m also excited to use a tool that I learned years ago, and got certified in. I just didn’t think about using it for weight loss! I’m going to incorporate EFT, also known as tapping, for weight loss!
I will be sharing my journey with you, hoping that I will be able to be an encouragement to you.
