A Prayer for Feeling Lonely
There are so many situations where one can feel lonely. Whether one is alone or surrounded by family, they can still feel lonely.
Lonely is described as desolated, standing apart or isolated. Can you related to these words?
When we get lonely, we can turn to bad habits, dark places in our mind, and not think clearly.
Whenever we feel alone or lonely, we can connect to our Father in heaven.
He is waiting to hear from us.
It’s cool to know that even if we think we are alone, He has never left our side.
CONNECTING TO HIM
You think to yourself, “If God is always with us, why do I feel so alone?”
I get that because I have asked that too. Through prayer, He has reminded me that it was me that disconnected. I was the one that was looking in other places for comfort.
When people disconnect with us, after awhile do you stop making the effort? Relationships go both ways.
Where do people find comfort?
These are just a few.
Comfort isn’t always found in unhealthy situations. Comfort can be found in things that distract us. They distract us for a while, then we are right back to square one.
Connecting to God can be the easiest way to begin to see through the fog of loneliness.
What if we simplified things and just turned to God, our Father, for comfort?
Along with prayer, the first step is recognizing when we are feeling alone.
We can do this by observing our behaviors.
Do you suddenly want to go grab some sweets?
Check in with yourself and ask:
- What am I thinking about that I want to go grab a sweet?
- Why am I feeling lonely right now?
- Am I really alone?
- Am I isolating myself?
Some people can be alone and not feel lonely.
Some can be surrounded by people and feel like the loneliest person in the world.
Journaling when you start to feel lonely may give some insights, by looking back, you may see a consistent pattern.
Keep connecting to God.
He will show us new ways we can connect to Him, other people, and to new situations that will be better than we ever thought possible.
