A Prayer for Grace
I find that it is easier to extend grace to others than to myself.
It probably goes back to how I seem to punish myself. Not sure why I expect so much more of myself than I do others.
Grace is also the love and peace of God that He extends to us, whether we deserve it or not.
It is grace that can transform us.
It can transform our desires and our behaviors . . . which perfectly relates to our struggles with food.
God’s grace can give us courage, comfort, and peace.
It’s something that I don’t need to completely understand. But I do know, like faith, it is a powerful gift.
I can give this to myself too, with God’s help, to deal with difficult circumstances.
When I have made a bad choice, get angry quickly, or experience a huge loss, I can ask God for His grace.
Grace can keep me from beating myself up.
This grace can help me to not second guess myself. This grace can be given to anyone freely, so why not me? I just need to accept it.
It may take some practice and prayer, but I can learn to let go and let God take care of the rest.
Let Go and Let God
Anytime I begin to:
- Judge myself
- Beat myself up for choices that I have made
- Second guessing what I am doing
- Feeling I “should have known better”
- Disappointed in myself
This prayer of grace will be my encouragement.
I hope that you find this encouraging too.
